In Psalm 23, according to English translations, we read, "The Lord is my shepherd..." Part of what is lost here is that David was not simply stating that God was the shepherd over his life, but he was proclaiming the name of God in direct relation to the characteristics of a shepherd. Often times when we read scripture taken from Hebrew and translated into English with miss or overlook these important nuances and it can degrade the impact it is suppose to have on us.
